Welcome to my blog! I am excited to finally have a place in which I can share the stories that are behind the photos. It’s true that pictures are worth a thousand words but isn’t it special to have the chance to also share the meaning behind them?! And for those of you that know me, know that I’m full of things to say! I’m super eager to connect with my current and future clients through this forum, so be on the lookout for blog updates.
Meet sweet baby Madison. She’s absolutely breathtaking. When I found out her mom, Alison, was due to deliver her on the same day that we’d be visiting family in Vermont, I knew I had to capture her first days in this world. I adore Fresh 48 sessions. They’re probably my most favorite. As a mom of three young boys, I know those first few days in the hospital are a total blur. You’re exhausted from both the lack of sleep, the constant attention from doctors and nurses, and simply from bringing human life into this world. It’s raw and it’s beautiful. There is no need for a face full of makeup and coordinating outfits. Tired eyes and robes work just as well for these types of photos! Fresh 48 sessions capture the beauty of life in all it’s natural, real and emotional glory. And let me tell you, this family nailed it.
Baby Madison happens to be the third child of my husband’s dear friend Randy, which made this session even more special. Randy and Ryan have been friends since childhood, and he was a groomsman in our wedding almost six years ago. I first met Alison a few days before our wedding. She and Randy stopped by my mother-in-law’s house while we were in the midst of prepping gift bags for our out of town guests. Before we had a chance to ask her much about herself, she rolled up her sleeves and jumped right in on the gift bag prep! She’s a super mom who also happens to be a super nurse too! Thankfully, Randy was smart enough to keep her around and now they have the most precious family ever.
When I arrived at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital to meet this adorable family, I was greeted by a beautiful sleeping baby who had dimples that matched her big sister! It was easy to see that Madison was loved immensely. We were able to capture such heartwarming photos of baby Madison, along with her doting mom and dad. I only wish big sister and brother had been there to join the fun! We will have to sneak in a few of those the next time we make a trip up north.
Those of you that have given birth know how difficult it can be. Moms are absolute rockstars no matter how their children are brought into this world (adoption moms included)! Maybe it’s because I’m not too far removed from these newborn days, but I love the realness that comes from these types of sessions. Families are at their most vulnerable. I was lucky enough to capture some keepsakes of my second and third sons after they were born, but don’t have any hospital photos of my first (since I didn’t truly pick up a camera until after he was born). Cue: mom guilt.
If you or anyone you know is getting ready to have a baby and would like to capture this important and all too fleeting time in life – I’m your gal!
Until next time….
Jen
